Lydia turns 5!

My baby girl is now five-years-old! It sure doesn't seem like it was that long ago that we brought home that sickly looking baby girl. (The picture below is from when she was 6 months old and had gained some weight)

She was so helpless back then. Many people looked at her and saw only what they thought she wouldn't be able to do. A girl with short arms, no fingers, one short leg and only one complete limb. Add to that the lack of a lower jawbone and some people just couldn't see past those obvious challenges.

But, we looked at her with eyes of wonder that knew she would accomplish much more than many people expected. We looked at her with eyes of acceptance, knowing that it didn't matter what other people thought, but it did matter what God thought and He had deemed her "very good" and valuable.

God willing, this is the girl who will one day grow to be described as having a worth that is "far above rubies" and she will be praised by her children and trusted by her husband.

Children? Husband? Yep! That's right! Lydia wants to grow up to be a wife and mommy and I fully expect her to do it and to do it well!
